Looking for a meaningful, concrete way to show up for our community right now?

Join BALIF and the AIDS Legal Referral Panel on Wednesday, May 27 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00pm for a hands-on asylum declaration workshop. At the workshop, ALRP’s immigration attorney will provide an overview of the asylum process and the current crises facing the system. They will also walk through best practices for drafting declarations.

Following the training, volunteers will be then assigned an asylum seeker’s intake interview and case file, already completed by ALRP’s legal team, and will have two weeks to draft the applicant’s personal declaration—the core of their case and their first opportunity to tell their story to the court.

BALIF and ALRP will host an optional follow-up gathering in the Castro on June 10, when the drafts are due, to share experiences, connect, and discuss ways to stay involved.

This is a chance to make a real impact, build community, and plug into work where our help is urgently needed.
