Please join BALIF on January 21, 2026 from 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm at Pillsbury, Winthrop, Shaw & Pittman LLP for a conversation about the first year of the Trump Administration, its impact on the LGBTQI+ community, and the long road ahead - featuring Constitutional Law Scholar and Professor Julie Nice.
Professor Julie Nice serves as the Herbst Foundation Professor of Law at the University of San Francisco School of Law where she teaches Constitutional Law, Sexuality Law, and Poverty Law. Over her nearly forty-year career, she experienced the loss of dear friends and colleagues to AIDS in the early 1980s, survived Bowers v. Hardwick in 1986, debated Amendment 2 all over Colorado, celebrated Romer v. Evans in 1996, delivered more than 50 presentations defending the right to same-sex marriage (about which she is personally agnostic), celebrated the repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell as well as the victories in Oncale, Lawrence, Windsor, Obergefell, and Bostock, while lamenting the defeats in Hurley, Dale, Snyder, Masterpiece, Fulton, 303 Creative, and now Skrmetti.
